This Picture of the Month was taken by Journal Weddings' founder and Chief Photographer Michael Barber in June 2008.
The couple was married at Bexley United Methodist Church and made their exit to a fairly traditional bubble blowing event. What wasn't so traditional, however, was the amount of enthusiasm the groom had when reacting to the day's festivities.
The photo won Barber a Third Place award for emotion in the international Wedding Photojournalist's Association competition, Q3 2008.
"I was excited by this image the moment I saw it on the back of my (digital) camera", said Barber. "We see bubble exits often enough, but this one had a completely different energy."
"I was fortunate to have chosen an unusual vantage point behind the crowd and used a telephoto lens. A wide angle of this moment would have lessened the impact." |
